Photos from the Commuter/Mentoring Program Event! Check it out!

Happy Wednesday!

Here are some photos that were taken at our first official Programming event in the new Honors building (if you haven't had a chance to come see us here yet, there will be more tours this month!)

We had tons of fun playing Apples to Apples, Clue, Life, Uno and Euchre while enjoying pizza with familiar faces and new people! What's your favorite board game?

The event was made extra special by giving away the super cute "I <3 my Mentee/Mentor" shirts as well as an awesome Commuter goody bag (w/ ice scrapers and/or gloves) that were put together by our awesome new Graduate Assistant, Janine!

Hope to see you all at our upcoming events (check your email/Honors website/social media) including our annual Lock-In and FREE Yoga sessions!

(Shout out to the four people who won our awesome "Soar Higher" tee shirts!!!!)

Feel free to email me with any questions/comments/suggestions,

A new home for The Honors College!

Hello all commuters and all fellow Honors students!

I'm sure you all know by now that The Honors College has moved locations! From Starkweather Hall to 511 W. Forest (formerly known as the Holy Trinity Church).

We are super excited to be here and for all the opportunities this new space allows us in programming and to be better able to serve the needs of Honors students like you! For example, one of the really awesome new things we can do here is have a Honors Commons Space for all students to come and hang out, study, relax, etc! I am really hoping that commuters will utilize this space as their own as a little place on campus they can come!

We are going to be hosting tours of the new space to really show you what I mean in the next couple months (and one at the Mentoring/Commuter Program event next Tuesday if you attend that - see previous post)! There will be information about those coming through your email or feel free to stop in the new building anytime! I'd be more than happy to show you around during my office hours! (Monday and Wednesday mornings till 12:15)

In the meantime, check out these sneak peek pictures of some of the space!

As always, soar higher!

Let me know if you have any questions about anything Honors related (i.e. new building, being a commuter, events, etc.), that's what we are here for!

Also feel free to comment on here with what you are most excited about using the new space for?! Or what you would like to see done here?!

Have a great Halloween with The Honors College and Pencils for Promise!

Hi everyone!

Our Halloween event (Monster Mash) is one week from tomorrow!

This event is very exciting because we are teaming up with Pencils of Promise (a student organization here at EMU). Not only will this event feature some really fun fall activities like corn hole, pumpkin painting, face painting, etc. but it will also serve as a fundaraiser for them with a huge dance party that features food and prizes!

The Halloween activities themselves will be offered from 5pm - 7:30pm. The dancing portion will take place from 6pm - 12am on Thursday, October 29th in McKenny Ballroom!

Another exciting aspect of this event is that we inviting everyone to bring kids! These could be your own children, your little brothers/sisters or your nieces and nephews!  We will have some fun activities for them to get involved such as face painting, bracelet making, and coloring! Please feel free to bring them with you (in costume - there will be a contest and a prize) and make this an even bigger event!

If you plan to attend, please fill out this survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5SM8MYL

We can't wait to see you there!

We had a lot of fun and I think it was a great kickoff to this year! Thanks again to everyone who came and I hope to see all of you at our upcoming events (aka the Halloween Event)!
